WHITNEY HOUSTON: Family Affair

Posted Dec 21st 2006 10:12PM by Karu F. Daniels
Filed under: Entertainment Newswire

Don't' call it a comeback.

But Whitney Houston is getting back into the swing of things on the music front.

And from the sound of her latest music endeavor, the "I Will Always Love You' singer may be taking a step in the right direction -- in her return to the charts.

Houston is making a stunning appearance on the soundtrack to Tyler Perry's forthcoming film 'Daddy's Little Girls' with the track "Family First," featuring her mother Cissy Houston, her cousin Dionne Warwick and someone who sounds just like her daughter Bobby Kristina.

The song is produced by Warwick's youngest son, Damon Elliot, who has worked with Pink, Mya, Destiny's Child, Kelis, Jessica Simpson and Macy Gray, amongst others.

With the refrain of "just a remember family comes first," the encouraging anthem keeps in the tradition of other superstar collaborations that have are becoming consistent with soundtracks to Perry films. On the 'Madea's Family Reunion' soundtrack, a rousing all-star ensemble comprised of Chaka Khan, Gerald Levert, Yolanda Adams, and Carl Thomas sang "Everyday (Family Reunion)."

New-school R&B crooner Jaheim, Musiq Soulchild and Anthony Hamilton join musical forces on the lead single "Struggle No More (The Main Event)."

Featuring tracks by Yolanda Adams, Brian McKnight, R. Kelly, Jaheim, Gerald Levert, and Beyoncé, 'Daddy's Little Girls' will be released via Atlantic Records on Jan. 16.

The movie, starring Idris Elba, Gabrielle Union, Traci Ellis Ross and Terri J. Vaughan is due in theaters on Feb. 14.

1. THANK U-THANK U-THANK U for knowing that Ms. Whitney may have been gone but NOT forgotten - my BEST FRIENDS
(which there are only 3) were so inspired when Whitney hit the scene with "YOU GIVE GOOD LOVE", yes we understood the lyrics but the kicker was that she was in our age group (we are all "61 Girls) - I saw the movie and LOVED it - and I mean all of it sometimes
life causes us to step back but if you were born in the '60's there are no obsticles great enough to keep from stepping up to the plate 'one mo' gin' - YOU GO MS. WHITNEY and 3 CHEERS for you Sir Tyler for always keeping it REALLLLLLLLLLLL !!! - Also, when are you going to search for unknown talent to debut on your plays and movies soundtracks? -THANK U-THANK U-
THANK U "ONE MO' GIN !!!

2. BRAVO Whitney, I am glad to see and hear that you are getting on the right track. I just watched "Lady Sings The Blues" and it reminds me how some of our cultures best talent really did not have the chance they deserve. Girl be a beacon in the darkness so that our up and coming DIVA's will know that we as a people are definitely a force to reckon with. Hang in there Whitney, there are many of us who are praying for you.....
