'To the Left, to the Left ...' for That Hepatitis A Shot

Posted Mar 1st 2007 1:08PM by Cheryl Thompson
Filed under: Casually Obsessed

BeyonceSomehow the words Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and hepatitis A found each other at a party:

Guests at Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue party on Feb. 14 and a dozen other events may have been exposed to Hepatitis A, which was diagnosed in an employee of Wolfgang Puck Catering, authorities said Tuesday.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health urged anyone who ate raw food at the Sports Illustrated event, held at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, to receive an immune globulin shot.

The SI party was attended by a plethora of models and SI cover girl Beyonce.

Bey? Hepatitis? Say it ain't so.

It ain't so.

Yes, the 'Dreamgirls' star was at the party where as many as 3,500 guests may have been exposed to hepatitis A, but was not at risk of catching the illness because she didn't eat.

That's a real good look for Bey because there's nothing to get bodied about hepatitis A, which includes symptoms of fatigue, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fever -- you know, basically all the hot gems of disease.

Hepatitis A is most often spread through fecal-oral contact, such as touching hand to mouth after using the bathroom or shaking the hands of infected people who did not wash properly.

So let this be a lesson kiddies: always wash up and stay away from parties celebrating half-naked ladies.

I'm sure the latter part of that lesson just fell on deaf ears, especially Pacman's.

7. Hepatitis A (HAV)and Hep.E (HEV)is found primarily in feces, and the route of transmission is contaminated food and water (fecal-oral route). Hep. B (HBV), Hep. C (HCV)and Hep.D (HDV)are blood-born viruses. Route of transmission percutaneous permucosal. HVA cause olny acute infection, whereas HBV and HCV can result in chronic infection.
There is a vaccine for HAV. It can be use as a pre-exposure or post-exposure prophylaxis.
Primary measure for prevention of HBV is immunization.
There is no product available for HCV, the primary strategies against HCV are blood-donor screening and risk-behavior modification.
HDV which is blood-born need HBV for replication, Because there is no vaccine for HDV vaccination against HBV is useful against HDV.
HEV also found in feces does not have any vaccine either. Just becareful of food that you eat and water that you drink.
HAV and HBV are both preventable. Meaning that there are vaccine out there that will help you from getting them.
HAV is given in 2-doses series
HBV is given is 3-doses series 1st shot given in the month of your or MD chosen 2nd shot given 1month from 1st shot 3rd given 6 month from the 1st month
Twinrix whis is both HAV and HBV is also a 3-doses serise as the HBV
I am just a nurse that is concern please talk to your doctor for more information on Hepatitis don't take it lightly.
We all need our liver it what clean our blood.
Hepatitis is inflammation of the liver. HBV can lead to liver cancer and can be more contagious than HIV
