Once Again, PETA Won't Like This

Posted Apr 26th 2007 1:25PM by Cheryl Thompson
Filed under: Casually Obsessed

Michael VickMichael Vick's name has stuck in the news this offseason, and rarely for something positive.

Today won't be any different.

Police searched a property owned by the Falcons quarterback on Wednesday and found several neglected dogs.

While investigators were at the property, they discovered three buildings behind the home that housed several barking dogs. "When they had a chance to go to the site, they discovered animal neglect," Surry County Administrator Tyrone Franklin. Franklin said that the dogs appeared to be hungry and forgotten.

In defense of Vick, he's apparently rarely at the property and his nephew is the primary occupant.

So Vick's of the hook, right? Not so fast:

Early reports indicate that Vick was allegedly running a dog-fighting and cockfighting operation from the back of the home. The Virginia Animal Fighting Taskforce was on the scene. Authorities report that Vick had been under investigation for several years for illegal animal fighting.

Just out of curiosity, is this something the NFL commish would consider an "embarrassment" to the league?

1. The NFL should focus on football. This is some absolute foolishness. Dogs always seem hungry. So I have some suspicion about the allegation. If we Know white folk we know that they are gonna over embellish a situation to make sure that they can alter the opinion of black people in the lime light. And for some reason we always fall for it. They appear to be hungry ok they will be fed at some point I am sure especially if they are used for fighting as the allegation further mentions because the dog needs strength. But no one saw a cock or dog fight and noone can confirm that these are Vicks dogs or that he resides there or that his nephew does not actually keep these dogs Lets be for real. Whitey is a trip

2. Why is it always about race? You show your own racism. You also show you probably abuse and neglect animals too. Pets are allowed in the house, know how to react to people and their bones dont show. Nelgected animals are easy to spot most of the time. Dogs kept outside, kept on leashes and that dont react well to people are abused. Animal welfare knows their job well. Too bad so many people are ignorant and cruel. Money obviously does not buy humanity. Blacky is a trip. You always act like slavery didnt come from Africa, when it did. Its always been a part of African culture, and still is. It goes back thousands of years, before the white man ever made it to Africa. Learn the real history of the world. Even the Bible talks of slavery, and the only whites in the Bible were the Jews, and they were slaves. The rest were middle eastern and africans. The native americans here had slaves here too, before "whitey" got here.

3. What made the dogs "appear" hungry? If neglected animals can go on the list of embarrassment there are quite a few CHILDREN being neglected by their wealthy celebrity MARRIED dads, white AND black. Let's see them step in about that. What kind of character does a half azz dad have?

4.
When there is a problem we use the Race blanket to protect ourselves from the real problem at hand. As long as we deflect the problem we will forever stay at the bottom of the social ladder. People like Vick, if he is guilty should be removed from the team, but that won't happen because he is a money maker as with all the players. Why do some people in that staus tend
to demonstrate an excessive amoint of ignorance. We are falling behind because people like that man who blamed Vick's problems on the white man.

5. OK SUE,

I GUESS AFTER "WHITEY" GOT HERE, THEY DECIDED TO EMPOWER OUR AFRICAN ANCESTORS TRADITION BY TAKING THE EXTENDED ROLL OF SLAVERY. SPREADING IT THROUGHOUT OUR NATION UNDER THE BRAND NAME CALLED "RACISM". SO, THANKS "WHITEY", WE WOULD LIKE TO THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE INITATIVE OF BEING SUCH A GREAT ROLL MODEL AND LEADER WITHIN OUR "AMERICAN SOCIETY." AND YET, STILL TODAY IT SHOWS HOW MUCH EFFORT YOU'LL HAVE SHOWN TO MAKE US APART OF SUCH A GREAT COUNTRY IN WHICH ALL CULTURES SHARE THEIR MASSIVE IGORNANCE.

I AM OVERWHELMED WITH THANKS!

OK BACK TO THE STORY AT HAND: I WOULD AGREE, PETS DESERVE TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT AS WELL. IF IT'S ALLEDGED THE DOGS WERE BEING USED FOR NON-HUMANITY PURPOSES, FOUND SAID TO BE THE PROPER OWNER OF VICK, THEN YES, HE SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THOSE ACTIONS, HOWEVER I DONT SEE HOW THIS SITUATION SHOULD AFFECT HIS WORKING CAREER.

6. PETA NEEDS TO GET SOME BALLS, GO AFTER SOME REAL MEAT, RID YOUR OWN FRIDGE AND CLOSET, AND BEDROOM OF TAINTED MEAT!

7. you all missing the point ,it's not a black or white thing here it's about the misuse of the government to come in and search your home on he say and she say .which one of use can say that we seen those animals
and that he the one doing the cruetly to them .his nephew is the one that need to be in questions give the man a break, i have two animals of my own so i feel for the mis use of all animals . stop please don't use this ask a black or white thing ,its a people thing

sandra at 2:22PM on Apr 28th 2007

8. It's truly not about a black or white thing. Why is the government allowed to illegally search someones property.Nevertheless, Micheal Vick was in the lime light about the illegal drung content that was supposedly found. Please leave him alone. He is the highest paid quarter back in the NFL and it is just. Why can't they focus on that. Give him a break. He's handsome and I had a chance to meet him and he was as down to earth as they come.

rhonda at 5:24PM on Apr 28th 2007

9. FORGET THAT HE'S AN NFL FOOTBALL PLAYER, FORGET THAT HE'S AFRICAN-AMERICAN. THE QUESTION AT HAND IS IF VICK WAS UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR SEVERAL YEARS BY THE AUTHORITIES. WHY DIDN'T THE AUTHORITIES FEED THE DOGS!!!
THEREFORE, THAT MAKES THEM GUILTY ALSO OF ANIMAL CRUELTY!! WASTING TAX-PAYERS MONEY!!!

10. HOW DOES ONE ADD A COMMENT BECAUSE I DON`T THINK I AM
DOING IT CORRECTLY

J. WRIGHT at 6:37PM on Apr 28th 2007

11. They alway's seem to want to focus on bullshit with black people. If the newphew was responsible for the animals, then arrest him and put his name in the damn paper's.

Kimberly at 6:41PM on Apr 28th 2007

12. every damn thing has to do with race every fucking blog on aol black voices ends up something about race shut the fuck up about race and talk about the problem at hand bitches

gweezy mac at 7:02PM on Apr 28th 2007

13. it is about race and the so-called abused animals. to name call is not what this issue is about - so you make it as such. i agree if the nephew is the primary resident he should be arrested. when did an agent go and actually see MV fighting dogs? does anyone know the answer to this question. they are only doing this because he is a young, black athlete who does not get into trouble

eb at 7:32PM on Apr 28th 2007

14. It isn't about Vick or his race. It's about aminal control doing their job. Pets as well as wild animals need them to keep them safe from a abuse. Just like all children need child protective services. They recovered the animals because they needed to be rescued no matter who was in control.

Mr Hill at 7:32PM on Apr 28th 2007

15. who cares about all of this. if it was an average person no one would care at all. if vick really did this it should not effect his job at all, although he should still face the consequences. it would be like you getting fired for doing something at your house...there totally unrelated...leave the man alone people and let him live his life
